Confirmation

Confirmation is the anointing with oil (chrism), the sign of abundance and joy, and it enriches the baptized with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. It binds the baptized more perfectly to the Church and hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed. Confirmation, the second sacrament of Christian initiation, imprints a spiritual mark on the soul and is necessary for the completion of the baptismal grace.
